Oklahoma Wine Competition

The Oklahoma Grape Industry Council (OGIC) is again partnering with the Watonga Cheese & Wine Festival to hold their third annual Oklahoma Wine Competition.  As before, the competition will be exclusively for wines produced by Oklahoma licensed wineries.  Out-of-state wineries or wines produced by non-licensed wineries are not eligible.

The overall goal of the competition is to improve the quality of Oklahoma wines by collecting information on the wines being produced in Oklahoma, and by giving feedback to the winemakers.  The more wines we can evaluate and analyze helps greatly in adding to the quality improvement database.  Everyone’s participation is needed to get a clear picture of what is going well and where we need assistance.

OGIC is happy to announce they are able to provide grant funds this year to help reduce the cost of the competition to their members.  This year there will be NO entry fee in hopes this will greatly broaden the participation. But the down-side of reducing member's cost that the entry registration had to move up to take advantage of these funds. All entries will be due by Friday, May 22, 2015.
